TELKOM SALES CONFERENCE 2011
East London International Convention Centre
The Mason Company, known for its excellence in producing innovative live shows designed, and conceptualised the Telkom Sales Conference 2011, staged in East London from the 15 to 17 May 2011.
The conference was meant to harness the collective energy of the company’s sales force for effective market performance – 550 Telkom sales delegates attended and what an inspiring spectacle the conference was.
As part of the Mason Company’s proposition to Telkom Business, Mason presented the conference corporate identity - P³, which symbolised three very important aspects of Telkom as a forward looking company: PASSION, PERFORMANCE and PRIDE – calling delegates to dedicate their collective genius towards winning and effective market performance.
The conference carried forward traditions that were familiar to Telkom staff while it broke new ground in line with the company’s core values of continuous improvement through innovation.
Ensuring technical delivery in line with Telkom's values, Mason Company contracted the Gearhouse Group of Companies to supply top-quality Lighting, Audio, AV, Set, Power and Rigging for the event as well as the distinctive Maxi Dome venue in which to host the evening events.
The conference included a strategically driven plenary and various break-away sessions, which emphasised a strong business focus on the Telkom brand and its future, with Television Personality Sindy Mabe, the Moderator and Host. Connecting the audience to Telkom’s Commercial Strategy, Mason Company presented a light-hearted interlude by ventriloquist, Conrad Gordon and to close, the host speaker, Gavin Shaples, had the audience in stitches.
The evenings boasted the Club Tau Awards, honouring the boldest and the strongest that walk the path of success, the top Telkom achievers. A creative setting took us to the City of Barcelona executed with colourful passion and energy where the Telkom Guests arrived on the BLUE Carpet ... creating a setting typical of “La Ramblas” in Barcelona, known on a world scale as a street of pure artistic expression and originality. A team of mime artists, stilt walkers, magicians, roving musicians and city dwellers ‘habitantes de la ciudad’ set the scene … onstage traditional and modern-day Spain joined in an energetic dance Flamenco showcase to the backdrop of the Libertad.
The MC for the evening, Jeannie D hosted the evening with well known DJ Christos on the decks.
The welcome evening celebrated the rich heritage of Sophiatown, a symbolic centre of black culture in Johannesburg in the 1940s and ‘50s. Like Harlem in New York City, the evening boasted a focus on arts and entertainment … on stage was a vigorous performance in music … Darlington Michaels, ‘Georgie Zamdela’ hosted the evening in true Sophiatown Magic Style, joined by Kwela Tebza, the kingpins of the Penny Whistle, Stella Khumalo & Friends, comedian for the evening, Lindi Ndumiso, an energetic dance cast and top DJ personality, Nicky Blumenvelt on the decks.
The Maxi Dome Venue, situated on the Convention lawns was completely transformed through set and lighting, providing the perfect foil to the themed events.
The delegates enjoyed a full programme with sporting activities which included a golf challenge and the technology driven 8’ta Team Building Challenge. As part of Mason’s proposition and commitment, the delegates were engaged, informed and indeed inspired to exude Passion to Perform with Pride.
Thanks to the Mason team and their partners, Gearhouse SA, Clive Morris Productions, Secure Events, Sandown Travel, Active Capture, the East London International Convention Centre and various suppliers for their support, effort and enthusiasm in delivering the 2011 Telkom Sales Conference.
